Blessed With A Dream Commission....
...that was due to amazing clients, Angel & Randy Mercier, that appreciate art and have an understanding and trust of the creative process. Being given a wall of this size to work with, within the intimacy of a bedroom space, is pretty unique. Upon opening their eyes in the morning, this is the first thing that they view...making it so important that this piece fuel them and speak to their heart and their passions.
The details of their spiritual beliefs, the family unit, their playfulness…these were all factors in deciding upon the conceptual subject matter of this piece. Every element was designed with intention...

...down to the sculpted nest that houses two clay birds that represent their girls, and a sculpted steel heart and envelop slot for love letters.
This commission consists of eleven canvases with the 12th being a sculpted tree with fused glass florets that extends across all canvases (6'X14') .
I was thrilled to include all of the mediums that I work with within one piece….a first for me.
Elements include a sculpted metal tree with scribed bark, fused glass florets, clay birds, stones & crystals to support chakra balance, a sculpted glass lotus votive, textured fabric as well as acrylic paintings.
The biggest challenge was the tree sculpture that was created in 5 pieces, with room for expansion, that was retrofit on site upon the completed canvases, taken back to the studio for final alterations and surface finishing and then re-installed on site. From initial consultation, to design renderings and revisions, fabrication to installation and documentation…this piece was a 5 month project.

This piece was amazing on all levels…
the clients, the subject matter that resonates with my heart, my belief in the design and my trust in the creative process..the planets were all in alignment…it felt, and continues to feel, AMAZING!!!
I am a proud mother. Ultimately, it is an honor to have my works, and the energy that created them, in a client’s home or office, commissioned or otherwise.
It is important that people recognize that art is energy and to ask themselves, “What type of energy do I want to surround myself with?" Hopefully it is energy that is well felt, that best supports you and brings you to your highest potential.
